What Is the Key to Summer Skincare?
Today, I will talk about summer skincare.
What do people care about most in summer skincare? Sun protection. So, how should you protect your skin from the sun? Sunscreen should be applied every day during this season because, no matter what, you will encounter sunlight when you go outside. How should sunscreen be applied? Generally, you should first apply your moisturizer. Some people ask me if they can apply sunscreen directly. Since sunscreen is not primarily for moisturizing, if your skin is relatively dry, you can first apply a layer of moisturizer, followed by sunscreen. Remember to apply sunscreen 20 to 30 minutes before going outside, not right before you leave.
One thing is that when we go outside, we might sweat a lot, and excessive sweating can interfere with sunscreen effectiveness. So generally, you should reapply sunscreen every hour, which is why I always carry sunscreen in my bag. Another point is that besides applying sunscreen on your face, you should also apply it on your neck—especially the back of your neck—as well as the back of your hands and arms. Some people ask whether they need to wear sunscreen indoors, and the answer is no—you don’t need sunscreen indoors.
Do you really have to wash your face before applying sunscreen? Actually, no. Some women feel conflicted and wonder, "After getting home, do I need to use cleansing oil or facial cleanser to remove sunscreen?" If you're using a good-quality sunscreen (note that I emphasize high-quality sunscreen), you don’t necessarily have to remove it scrupulously. In other words, washing it off with warm water and a towel is sufficient, since you'll likely wash your face after getting home anyway. Then, just apply a light moisturizer afterward. Even if you feel like the sunscreen isn’t fully removed, rest assured—it won’t cause much harm to your skin.
Got it, everyone? Apply sunscreen half an hour before going out, reapply every hour, and remember—you don’t need cleansing oil or facial wash to remove sunscreen.
