"All medicines have some toxicity" - people's instinctive resistance to medications

Patients often believe they're cured when symptoms disappear or test results normalize

Stopping medication without consulting a doctor

What many don't realize is that for patients with coronary heart disease,

arbitrarily discontinuing medication may lead to

disease recurrence, worsening condition, or even heart failure.

"Good medicine tastes bitter but helps cure illness," especially for those taking these 4 types of medications—never stop them without medical guidance.

1. Antihypertensive drugs

Require long-term use to maintain stable blood pressure. Abrupt discontinuation may cause blood pressure fluctuations, arrhythmia, tachycardia, and even trigger cardiovascular emergencies.

2. Antidiabetic drugs

Suddenly stopping medication can cause blood sugar to rise rapidly, worsen the condition, and may even trigger ketoacidosis or coma.

3. Lipid-lowering drugs

For patients with ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, angina, myocardial infarction, or severe carotid artery stenosis, even if their lipid levels have reached normal ranges, dosage reduction or discontinuation should only be done under medical supervision. Never discontinue these medications without doctor's instructions.

4. Antiplatelet drugs

Patients who have undergone major vascular stenting, coronary artery stent intervention, or have a history of myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, or deep vein thrombosis typically require long-term use of anticoagulants such as aspirin and clopidogrel. Abruptly stopping these medications can lead to bleeding tendencies, thrombosis, and severe consequences.

Neither the saying "all medicines have three parts poison" nor "good medicine tastes bitter but cures diseases" should be interpreted one-sidedly. When you're sick, take the medicine, and stop when you've recovered. When to stop? When to start? It's always best to follow your doctor's advice—don't fall into your own logic and become overconfident!
